Presidents of the USA

 George WashingtonThomas JeffersonTheodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln are sculpted on Mount Rushmore since 1920. It has become an iconic symbol of presidential greatness






There were many presidents of the United States. 45 to be exact with Donald Trump as the 45th. Here are some iconic presidents in history.




1. Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln became the United States' 16th President in 1861, issuing the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy in 1863.On Good Friday, April 14, 1865, Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theatre in Washington by John Wilkes Booth, an actor, who somehow thought he was helping the South. The opposite was the result, for with Lincoln's death, the possibility of peace with magnanimity died.

On April 30, 1789, George Washington, standing on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York, took his oath of office.



Theodore Roosevelt
He took the view that the President as a "steward of the people" should take whatever action necessary for the public good unless expressly forbidden by law or the Constitution." I did not usurp power," he wrote, "but I did greatly broaden the use of executive power."During the Spanish-American War, Roosevelt was lieutenant colonel of the Rough Rider Regiment, which he led on a charge at the battle of San Juan. He was one of the most conspicuous heroes of the war.




Thomas Jefferson  (1801-09)
was the third president of the United States of America and was responsible for the purchase of Louisiana. He served as president for two terms. 



 Franklin D. Rossevelt  (1933-45)
 After graduating from Harvard, Roosevelt went on to marry Eleanor and have 6 children. He served as Secretary of the Navy and Governor of New York before becoming President of the USA. Read more about Franklin D. Roosevelt.


John F. Kennedy (1961-63)
John F. Kennedy could perhaps be one of the most famous presidents the United States has had. He was handsome, smart, eloquent and said to have an affair with e.g. Marilyn Monroe. His Inaugural Address offered the memorable injunction: "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country." On 11/22/1963 he was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Ronald Reagan
 
(1981-89): Ronald Reagan was a fairly well-known actor before he ran and was elected for the President of the United States of America two terms in a row.






George H.W. Bush (1989-93)
 George H. W. Bush was the 41st president of the Unite States and a Republican. During his presidency the Soviet Union dissolved, Suddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and Noriega lost dictatorship of Panama.

 America's 43rd President (2001-2009), was transformed into a wartime President in the aftermath of the airborne terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, facing the "greatest challenge of any President since Abraham Lincoln."




John Quincy Adams (1825-29)
John Quincy Adams was the son of John Adams who served as Washington’s vice president and as President. He was the sixth president of the United States. Read more about John Quincy Adams.




Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953-61)
 Eisenhower became the Chief Military in aid to General MacArthur and was elevated by Roosevelt to Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. He was successful with many strategies against Germany in WWII. 


Barack Obama (2009- 2017)

Obama was 44th president. He was known as the first black president of the USA who always smiled. He has 2 daughters and a succesfull wife Michelle - loved by the people.


Donald Trump 2017-present





Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is the 45th and current president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality. One of his real estates he developed in 1980 is Trump Tower a famous building in Manhattan, NYC.
